The risk of accidental spills has been assessed at numerous terminals, ports and airports throughout the world and risk management measures applied. This work has required the use of sensitivity maps and trajectory models, the review and preparation of emergency plans, recommendations of response equipment, and the development and instruction of training programs. In China, a unique response plan was developed for the Port of Qingdao that detailed emergency procedures for five types of accidents while work in Port of Yantai considered operational needs for a response centre and an equipment base. Hands-on training was then conducted in Yantai. |
