RECENT PROJECTS

Contingency plans, spill response instruction, and countermeasures recommendations were conducted 2018 to 2022 for Suncor Energy, BC Ferries, Western Forest Products (including 2023/24), BC Hydro, GHD,  Squamish Nation, and the Prince Rupert Port Authority.  Several of these projects continued to see significant progress in spill response preparedness.  In 2023, spill prevention and response programs were conducted for ProTrans BC (Skytrain), Kwikwetlem First Nation (also 2024), Freedom Diving Systems, Metro Vancouver watersheds, and Natural Resources Training Group (NRTG). Spill training at a caesium mine in Manitoba was also instructed through NRTG..

An expanded environmental initiative with BC Ferries has been ongoing since 2016 that in 2024 and 2025 includes studies relating to electric vehicle/lithium-ion battery incidents. Spill prevention and response training continued for Metro Vancouver watersheds in 2024 and then again in 2025..

In April 2025, a Spill Management Plan and companion Spill Response Field Guide were completed for the Capital Regional District (CRD) of Victoria based on risk assessments that included site visits, the review of past incidents, and interviews of staff.  2025 training through NRTG was conducted for Indigenous Monitors of the TMX pipeline and for the City of Courtenay..
